Saturday 7th September, dawned grey and wet, however it did not dampen the spirits or enthusiasm of the entrants taking part.
The day began with breakfast at the Cohannon Inn, Dungannon...a very nice breakfast it was too!
Everyone arrived chatting and smiling, determined to enjoy the day out.
Following a leisurely breakfast, we left on the first part of the run, which took us through scenic back roads via Ardboe, arriving about 12.30pm for our picnic stop at Ballyronan Marina.
Thanks to Clare Lewsley, arrangements were made for everyone to take their picnic indoors out of the rain, this was brilliant as it gave everyone the added opportunity to socialise.
We even had a bridal party arriving at the Marina for photographs, a bonus for them was the classic cars, they didnt waste the opportunity, with the bride being photographed behind the steering wheel of Martin Waterworths lovely wee Minor Million. Some of our guys even had time to give the wedding limo a pre- MOT check before we left for the second leg of the run.
Leaving Ballyronan we travelled via Magherafelt through lovely scenery, dispite the rain into Tobermore and back by the picturesque Lough Fea into Cookstown. Skirting round Cookstown we turned of Drum Road into the car park at the Greenvale Hotel, inside our tables were set awaiting our arrival.
Once everyone was seated, the staff served the meals like a well oiled machine. The meal was lovely and a great finish to the day.
All in all a great days craique!
So remember to keep the first Saturday in September free for next year.
